About Mark Stone
I used to be a tech geek. Maybe I still am.
A long time ago in a city slightly far away, my work life was completely different from the professional writing work I do now.
In a previous life, I worked for the corporate world in information technology.
My career in IT began when my grandfather put me to work as a junior programmer for his company. Programming wasn’t for me, and after stints with companies large and small working in general IT, I specialized in computer security.
As a certified information security analyst working for the provincial government, I got to train with and learn from some of the best security minds in the world – including some crazy hackers and even the FBI.
I’ve been on the Internet since 1991. Remember the Internet in 1991? Back then it was all text-based — web browsers didn’t even exist yet. Good times…
As an early adopter, my computer consulting company was one of the first in Canada to offer Internet services and training.
I’ve been writing about technology, cybersecurity, entertainment, and business since 2008 when I left the IT world behind. I try to infuse my tech background and knowledge with my creative spark in everything I write. I love the fast-paced world of technology and over the years I’ve developed a massive network of amazing subject matter experts that always keep me well-informed.
I love hiking and traveling, and my wife and I probably watch a little too much television. We live in beautiful Kelowna, BC and have two of the most spoiled cats in the world.
